Where mighty things begin...

Here 1475 ft above the ocean, the mighty Mississippi begins to flow on it's winding way 2552 miles to the Gulf of Mexico.

Of all the watersheds, we feel ours is a pretty big deal. The importance of properly stewarding the birthplace of our mightiest river has not been lost on us.

What we do within our watershed sets the tone for all the downstream watersheds within the main stem of the Mississippi drainage basin. The management and protection practices we implement within our watershed starts the first leg of an amazing relay race that spans the heart of our country.

Taking the lead

Water flows from our lands to our neighbors, and to our neighboring watershed, and then downstream beyond our state. We have a responsibility to give the water a clean start.
